Fog Week continues on Wednesdays in Marblehead with this – the first image taken on a recent night of dense fog in Marblehead.  As soon as the fog rolled in, I knew I had to head to the causeway.  I had previously photographed a great foggy night on the causeway where I was lucky enough to capture people walking along the causeway.  I realized I had never captured the causeway from the Marblehead Neck side though and sought to rectify that on this night.

I started at the end of the causeway but wasn’t thrilled with the far spacing from the first to second lamp post.  For this image, I moved to the side facing Riverhead Beach and captured the second lamp post with the winding path of the causeway illuminated by lamp posts further down.  There weren’t any pedestrians walking along the causeway this time around and I had to deal with a fair amount of traffic that would add distracting streaks of light to the scene.  But when the traffic stopped, I saw this incredible scene laid out before me.

The combination of light and fog made for an amazing interplay shadows and illumination.  There is even the subtle shadow of the causeway itself seen on the right edge of the image with light beyond.  Again, using black and white allowed me to accentuate the light and lines of the causeway.
