This has been a long Winter with all too frequent snow storms and plenty of sub-freezing temperatures to go along with them. That being said, there is something incredibly beautiful about a coating of freshly fallen snow.

On Saturday, February 15, immediately after dropping off my son at the Tedesco parking lot for the YMCA snowboarding clinic, I headed across the street to capture the view you see before you. Snow had fallen the night before and a nice sunrise was developing as I found this composition near Tedesco Street. I was surprised to see that the sand trap had turned into a reflecting pool and I decided to take advantage of the effect by lining up a nearby tree trunk so that it reflected in the icy mirror.

Between the lines radiating out from the sand trap, the angles on the dark tree trunks and branches, the first light of dawn and the reflection in the ice, the scene (though cold) was incredibly beautiful.
