As you may know, Abbot Hall is currently undergoing some restorative work on its tower and, as such, scaffolding and red netting have surrounded the iconic structure.  With the red wrapping covering Abbot Hall, I had decided to explore compositions that would exclude the tower as much as possible.  Then, a few weeks ago, someone donated money to adorn the red tower with a large letter M representing Marblehead’s school colors and emblem of the sports teams.  Since then, the tower is back as a focal point of my photography.

On July 13th, my family was invited out on a friend’s boat for a ride out of the harbor.  While still on the Boston Yacht Club launch, I spotted this composition with the large M on Abbot Hall tower, the new gold ABBOT weathervane and a boat named Patron in the harbor.  Abbot Hall seems to be the patron of Marblehead and the scene was just too nice to pass up.

Enjoy the weekend!
