On August 14, 2010, I created Wednesdays in Marblehead and posted my first image of the Marblehead fireworks taken just one month prior.  As a newcomer to town (we moved here in May 2008), I decided that the best way for me to learn about my new hometown was to photograph it.  I had a simple plan to shoot when I could and share an image once per week on Wednesdays (my day off from my regular job).

What I failed to realize or consider at the time was just how much beauty there was to find within the 4.4 square miles that make up this town.  The weekly posts weren’t enough and I soon found myself posting every morning.  I went out at sunrise and sunset when I could and often came back with a half dozen new images to share.  In the first few months, I would post to the website and Facebook page and feel as though the images were disappearing into the vast sea of the internet with hardly a ripple made.  As time went on, more and more people discovered my photography and the audience for the images grew.

After five years, I am shocked to realize that I have shared 1,242 images.  Four of those images were awarded either Best of Show or People’s Choice Awards at the Marblehead Festival of Arts in the past four years.  Many other of my images now hang in homes in and out of Marblehead reminding current and former ‘Headers of the beauty that surrounds them.  In August 2014, I published a coffee table book with the support of many of you who will read these words.  The first printing of 1,500 books sold out in the first year and the book is now in its second printing.

Rather than try to fit all 1,242 images into a single slideshow, I chose my favorites from the past five years and put them together.  The five minute show should provide new and longtime fans of this page a nice review of images I’ve made and scenes they’ll instantly recognize in these past five years of Wednesdays in Marblehead.
