For those who might be new to the site, I have been running a Keep it Local Friday theme for the past few years. The goal was and remains to highlight the great local businesses that reside within the town of Marblehead. My preference has been to capture timeless photos of the storefronts which means trying to do so without cars parked in front. And that has meant that I typically capture these scenes at dawn during the Winter months when the parking ban is in effect.
This year’s Keep it Local images were put on hold as I recovered from a broken foot but, on Saturday February 1st, I headed to old town to resume this dormant theme. My last stop of the morning ended up being Haley’s Market Cafe.
Haley’s opened its doors almost exactly one year before I captured this image (February 2nd, 2013) which just struck me as an incredible coincidence as I had not looked that up ahead of time. In that time it has cemented its place as a go-to destination for any meal of the day and I happened to run into neighbors enjoying breakfast there as I set up for this shot.
For the shot, I knew that I wanted to accentuate the reflections in the windows so I added a circular polarizer to the lens to maximize the reflection of the Grace Community Church.
If you are looking for a great spot for breakfast this morning, Keep it Local and head down to Washington Street and Haley’s Market Cafe.
