Sea Smoke is an almost magical phenomenon that tends to occur on only a few days each Winter. When the air temperature drops significantly lower than the water temperature, the ocean appears to give off steam as the relatively warm ocean temperatures result in vaporization at the water surface. This tends to occur in January and is most prominent at sunrise. This gallery features my favorite images of seasmoke in Marblehead harbor.
