For the past few years, a new shot has made its way into the top 10 countdown. I never know if the newness of the shot makes me favor it more with the experience of capturing it still fresh in my mind.
Such is the case for this shot of the Cold Moon over State Street captured on December 12th. I’ve gone out to capture this scene of a setting moon with a lit star on the crane over The Landing in the past and never had all the elements lined up quite right. This was the year when everything ‘clicked’ (sorry) with the moon perfectly visible but just a hint of cloud above it to break up the sky, snow on rooftops, and the star shining with its own lighting and reflecting the dawn.
For the realization of an image just as I had imagined it, the Cold Moon over State Street is my seventh favorite image of 2019.
Merry Christmas!
