On November 6th, I headed out in the hopes of capturing the moon rising over Brown’s Island but was met by unexpected cloud cover blocking any sign of the nearly full moon. As I watched, an incredible sunset began to form to the west and I considered leaving for a more comfortable location; one where I knew the compositional possibilities. But instead, I stayed and was treated to an unexpected sunset over Crowninshield Road.
Since moving to Marblehead in 2008 and starting Wednesdays in Marblehead in 2010, I have never composed an image from this location facing toward Peaches Point. The light that night made me see this spot in a new light (pardon the pun).
For an unexpected sunset and a new composition after 12 years of capturing this town, ‘Up Crowninshield Road’ is my 9th favorite image captured in 2022.
