There are two flowers that I have sought to capture in town since I began this site.  The first was the Cherry Blossom which I found on Washington Street.  The second was the sunflower.  I had racked my brain as to where I might find these symbols of Summer within the Town of Marblehead but was coming up empty.  On Wednesday, I picked up my daughter from camp and drove up West Shore Drive toward Crowninshield/Brown’s Island as it was low tide.  As we passed Cemetery Road, I noticed an incredible patch of sunflowers on the left.  The light wasn’t quite right so I made a point to return when we finished exploring the island (shots from that excursion will come in two weeks).  On our return, I found blue skies with patchy clouds overhead and set about photographing these incredible flowers.  Next time you drive up or down West Shore Drive, make sure you look for them…
