On a late October morning, I headed down to First Harbor in the hopes of capturing dawn break and some nice colors. I drove up Orne Street to where it meets Beacon Street and parked in front of the Marblehead Lobster Company (now closed and awaiting a planned reopening). As dawn broke, I was treated to soft light in the sky and calm waters in First Harbor to reflect the pinks and oranges. As it happened, a single boat named Sea Nymph sat moored alone in the still waters.
I composed this image to include Marblehead Light situated between Gerry Island on the left and Fort Sewall on the right. I always found this to be a unique vantage point from which to view the three land masses and their close proximity and juxtapositions.
