This will be my last new image of 2019 as I plan to do a Top 10 countdown starting this weekend leading up to New Years Day.

Today’s photo of a lit Christmas tree on the rocky shore of Marblehead Harbor was captured ten minutes prior to the wider image of the moon setting. I had spotted this tree from across the harbor and really liked this composition but the cloudless sky detracted quite a bit. As the sun began to rise, it lit up the smoke from a chimney in downtown Marblehead and added a nice pink break in the blue sky.

The square crop meant losing just a bit of the pink smoke but I thought it made for a better final composition.  It’s not quite Christmas yet but I hope you enjoy this view across the harbor of a Christmas tree and Old North Church.
