I can’t describe how cold it was tonight while waiting for the full moon to rise over Flying Point.  With the clear night sky, I decided to drive over to Greystone beach having scouted out the projected rise of the full worm moon.  I had initially considered shooting the moonrise over Children’s Island but decided in the end to try to capture it over the tip of Marblehead Neck instead.

I set up about 10 minutes early with a borrowed 600mm lens and waited…and waited.  The cold air seemed to blow right through all layers of clothing and my hands began to feel numb when I finally spotted the moon rising above the haze.  I had hoped for a tight shot of the moon behind homes at flying point but quickly switched to a vertical panorama to try to save that composition with the moon rising rapidly.
