While aerial images can open up a world of possibilities in the hundreds of feet above Marblehead, I’ve really enjoyed using my new Phantom 4 Pro to capture images from just a few feet off the ground but in locations otherwise inaccessible to me before. For today’s image, I flew from Riverhead beach to these two moored lobster boats in the inner harbor and lucked out when the sun broke through the clouds behind me just as I got into position.
I’ve always wanted to capture images of the working boats in our harbor in this way but previously was limited to a wide view (with boats appearing too small) or a tighter composition (and losing the beautiful backdrop of Marblehead Neck). Not only was I finally able to capture these two boats as I had hoped, but the incredibly calm water served as a mirror lending reflections on a still harbor for these boats and the houses beyond.
When I lived in Marblehead, ou sailboat r boat mooring was the last one next to the causeway. It took a lot of manueuvering to get to,opem water by the lighthouse, due to the large number of boats. This looks surreal with an empty harbor!
Thanks Priscilla. I have another image from a bit higher and the emptiness becomes even more surreal given the stillness of the water and perfect reflections.
Just want to share with you some pictures from last foggy Friday. Usually, I walk around Swampscott and Nahant but there are some my favorite spots in Marblehead. One of them – benches at the corner of Chestnut and Cliff street.
So peaceful!
I agree Heather
