On Wednesday, the Privateer Lynx arrived in Marblehead as part of the Maritime Festival.  I had photographed the Lynx arriving for the first time last year in the midst of rain and fog.  As that shot from Fort Sewall had turned out well (click here to see it), I decided to try shooting from Chandler Hovey Park this time around.  I climbed on the rocks that jut out from the east side of the parking lot and tried to capture the Lynx with a suitable Marblehead backdrop.  The boat was a bit too far from Marblehead Rock and then came across Childrens Island where I captured a few frames with it surrounded by sailboats.

Coincidentally, a group of Optis was busy practicing at the mouth of the harbor and, as I tracked the boat coming in, I decided that would make for a great image.  I waited for the boat to enter the harbor and got this image of it and the class of Optis surrounding it.  There’s a lot to do and see in town this week so make sure you take part in the festivities.  You can even set sail on the Lynx for a unique opportunity.
