I had high hopes for capturing the moon setting over Marblehead this morning and made sure to wake by 5am for the best chance of capturing the full moon against the early morning light. I checked conditions from my window and spotted the bright moon and then headed out to the Neck all the while watching some unexpected clouds build over the horizon.
I arrived at Chandler Hovey Park just as dawn’s light began to bloom and just as the moon disappeared behind the clouds. As the light brightened, I quickly gave up hopes for a shot of the moon and turned in the opposite direction where the sun was starting to light up clouds behind Marblehead Rock. Once I captured that scene, I turned back to shoot the light reflecting off those pesky clouds over an empty Marblehead harbor.
Though with spring in the air, hopefully the harbor will start to fill with boats soon enough.
