Less than 100 days remain until we can bask in the warmth and gaze at the beauty of the Annual Marblehead Harbor Lighting.
This image was taken within 2 months of our arrival in town. As many of you know, we moved here from Washington, DC in May 2008 when I started work as an Allergist at the Asthma and Allergy Affiliates. I had little knowledge or expectations for the annual fireworks display having been spoiled by the show in Boston and DC in the past few years. I decided to head out on my bike and see if I might capture a few images. As soon as the blue hour took hold, red lights began appearing around the harbor. I looked around me and realized they were flares. I had never seen this before and the effect of the red lights against the blue of the sky and water was incredible. This image was taken from Fort Sewall and I will include my one decent shot of the fireworks on the site – though not my finest work ; )
I am including a link to the Marblehead Fireworks Committee page here and hope that you will consider donating to this very worthy event that is funded solely by donations. LINK
Checks should be made out to Town of Marblehead and mailed to the address below.
