On Friday night, I borrowed a wide angle lens from a friend in order to shoot the Milky Way later that night/early the next morning.  With a new lens in hand, I couldn’t help looking for something to shoot and drove around town as the sun slowly set and clouds moved across the sky until I settled on Devereux Beach as the best vantage point.

I photographed the ocean for a while as the clouds began to take on the pink hue of sunset and then quickly walked up to the pavilion and placed the tripod close to the ground.  I decided to use the vertical lines of the pavilion as a frame to break up the sunset.  The top and bottom of the open frames formed nice diagonals to guide the eye through the scene.
