Last Tuesday, I celebrated my birthday and awoke before the alarm clock at 5:30am.  I had previously scouted the location and time of the sunrise as it had occurred to me I had never tried to shoot a sunrise on my birthday.  Having woken up early enough and with some time until I had to be at work, I quickly got dressed and headed out the door.  I had two possible locations in mind but decided on the Devereux Beach one when I saw how the light was developing.  I photographed the dawn as light began to grow at the horizon and then captured this frame as the sun just became visible behind the houses on Marblehead Neck.  You can make out the soft red glow on the water and the far stronger glow in the clouds above.  Have to admit it was a pretty good way to start off the day and a new year.
