Last week, I shared images taken at Harris Street cemetery and remarked that those three trees might have taken the title from my previous ‘favorite tree’ in town.   Three days after taking those images and, appropriately enough, on a Wednesday, I drove up Washington Street and saw ‘my’ tree in full bloom.

I pulled over and marveled at the tree in its setting with incredible light coming down in the late afternoon.  The only problem was the very large truck blocking half of the view.  I realized that the house was undergoing some renovations and knocked on the door hoping for a kind face and ready to plead for the crew to move the truck.  I was rewarded on both counts and met the current owner of the home who showed me the renovations and let me peak out from the second floor windows to see if I might get a unique vantage point.  I had hoped to somehow view Abbot Hall from up there but the angles were wrong.  I came back down and by that time the truck had been moved.

Even with my widest lens, I was still forced to shoot this from the street and had to carefully compose and capture the image while hoping that any cars coming down Washington Street would see me in time.  I’m glad to say that all of the drivers were very accommodating and I got my shot.  Looking at this now, I have to say this is still my favorite tree in town.
