Ever since the scaffolding went up around Abbot Hall as part of a restoration project, I searched for a way to the top for what promised to be incredible views and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.  As the Summer passed and the main avenues I could pursue kept closing, I started to lose hope.

In late November, I was invited to receive a certificate of recognition from the Old Marblehead Improvement Association.  As I listened to speeches and saw other awards handed out, I noted that all of the key members of the Abbot Hall restoration project were gathered in this one place!  I made my case to each in turn and was redirected again and again until finally I was put in front of the person who could approve my request.

After that, the photo shoot came down to timing and, on Tuesday, November 25, I headed up the scaffolding with a hard hat in place and one hand firmly on the railing.  Thankfully the winds were calm though I still appreciated every gust that came through at this elevation.  I spent my allotted 45 minutes capturing as many images as I could and then headed back down to ground level.

This is the first image I am able to share from atop Abbot Hall Tower and features the beautiful roofing and new weathervane that had replaced a worn out one.  I will be sharing more from this brief but incredible trip to the top of Abbot Hall in the weeks and months to come.
