On Thursday, January 8th, an arctic cold mass was projected to hit Marblehead bring subzero temperatures and the potential for sea smoke. I had captured sea smoke twice before and thus went out on Wednesday, January 7 to scout out some new locations. One of those stops was at Castle Rock (where I would end up returning…twice…the next morning).
I arrived at Castle Rock at 3:30pm and left about 25 minutes later. In that time, I sought out a number of different compositions and came away with six solid images thanks to a combination of the cloud cover and the setting sun reflecting off of them. This week, I plan to share five of those images as an exercise to showcase just how much beauty can be seen even in one small part of Marblehead and within a 30 minute time period.
This is the first image I captured and was taken from atop/along the rock wall that extends along one section of Castle Rock. I was trying to show the grand view at Castle Rock – that first glance as you walk down from Ocean Avenue and along Castle Rock Lane – with a beautiful sky filled with just the right amount of clouds.
