On Saturday night, my wife, son and I took the dog out to Crocker Park for an impromptu picnic dinner (my daughter was at a friend’s house).  After finishing a nice meal from Shubie’s for us (two slices of Marblehead House of Pizza for the 10 year old…), we wandered around the park letting our puppy explore this new area.

Even from a distance, I noticed a change in the large chestnut tree at Crocker park – it was in full bloom with incredible pyramidal flowers dotting its full canopy.  Thankfully, I had thought to bring my camera bag (just in case) and set about to capture the blooming Chestnut tree from various angles as my son played with other kids in the park and my wife enjoyed a few moments of peace and quiet.

I spotted this composition from the back edge of the park where I could line up the Chestnut tree with its full display of flowers against the gazebo and Marblehead harbor filling rapidly with boats.  I had to wait for a cloud to move out from in front of the sun and allow the warm light to set the chestnut tree aglow as the gazebo and harbor were bathed in golden hues.
