On New Years Day, I headed out to Devereux Beach for the first sunrise of the year and shared an image of the sun backlighting waves shortly after I came home. Before the sun came up, I busied myself capturing the waves coming to shore and then receding in response to the pull of the ocean.

Once I figured out this composition, it was a matter of timing to get just the right wave and just the right moment where the motion of the water returning to the ocean could best exemplify that cyclic pull.
