I mentioned in yesterday’s post that I had rented a lens to try on our recent trip to the Turks and Caicos and had gone out on this morning to put the glass through its paces. After capturing the brilliant sunrise from State Street Landing, I retreated to this spot along Washington Street hoping to capture more good light looking down State Street.
By the time I was set up on the corner, the sun had risen too high to be reflected by the morning clouds but I still enjoyed this view of historic downtown Marblehead.
The lens did not disappoint either as it was able to capture detail from FL Woods down to the car’s tail lights on State Street while showing no distortion in the buildings.
So wonderfully familiar. Great shot
Very ?good
What kind of lens?
Beautiful shot of such great buildings.
Thanks for bringing more highlights down State Street ,thus bringing back all those memories from 61 years ago when I lived at #22,
That’s a pretty cool lens!
My family lived on that historic corner for 81 years. The Cornish name Trefry was pronounced ‘Trevy’ back in the day. The current building was constructed in the mid 1800’s.
I used to live above Hector’s pup toy store when I was in Jr High and High School.
Pretty amazing not to get distortion. Do tell about the lens. Did you shoot all the morning shots wide open?
Thank you for this lovely shot. My mother was the owner of Hector’s Pup Toys and Gifts in this location until 2004. Such great memories!
My family vacationed in and around Marblehead for summer vacation. Hector’s Pup was my favorite place to visit as a kid. I loved the playmobile stuff they had. One year I bought a huge sailboat there. It was great.
I loved visiting Hector’s Pup when i was a kid. My family would come to Marblehead in the summers and this was a great place as a kid to visit. I remember buying a huge sailboat here with my own money.
Hector’s Pup holds a special place in our hearts- In the 1970s my 3 sisters and I were enchanted by the dollhouse furniture and all the toys of this beautiful toy store. Our favorite part was being able to spend our token money and choosing from the selection of Molly Brett and Racey Helps postcards. Susanne, that’s so special that your Mom owned Hector’s Pup! Endless gratitude to her for all the joy.
