On a Sunday morning in mid-April, I lucked out with a brilliant dawn on an empty harbor. I began by shooting at the longest end of my zoom lens to capture the incredible colors near the horizon. However, I also wanted to showcase the empty harbor and the interplay of dawn’s colors with the light of the blue hour that otherwise colored the rest of the scene. This shot was taken near the widest part of the zoom lens and allowed me to realize that feeling of dawn and the morning sun pushing away the last light of evening and dusk.
