As I mentioned before, 2014 was an off year for the annual Marblehead Fireworks display.  The official show was cancelled due to hurricane Arthur but I had set out for the causeway in order to capture the annual harbor illumination.  In years past, I had noticed the amateur fireworks launched from both sides of Marblehead harbor but saw those as a small taste of the real show to come.  This year, it was all we had but that made it all the more special.

I spotted fireworks exploding in the space to the right of Abbot Hall and decided to recompose for this wide view including the red flares encircling the harbor as well and Marblehead Light in the distance.  I spotted the tracer of a rocket fire and opened the shutter for this exposure which caught a pair of red fireworks over Marblehead Harbor.  The red light reflected off the still waters and served to add an accent to the harbor illumination that went off as scheduled.

Hope you enjoy this last view of the 2014 fireworks.  Next year marks the 50th anniversary of the Marblehead Festival of Arts.  I have a feeling its going to be a great show.
