The full moon rose last night and I had convinced myself that clouds would block any view of it only to catch a glimpse of it rising on the First Harbor webcam and lamenting my decision to bag it.  Thankfully, I still have over 700 images in my ‘to be posted’ folder that have yet to see the light of day and discovered this image of perfect moonrise symmetry.

On July 31, 2015, I had gone out on a perfect Summer evening with hardly a cloud in the sky and was fortunate to capture several images of a beautiful moonrise over Chandler Hovey Park.  I’ve shared a few from earlier in the night but I continued to watch the moon rise and adjusted my location as it did hoping for the image you see here.

It’s difficult to appreciate just how fast the moon rises in the night sky but I was making constant adjustments to my position as the moon approached and then crossed behind the lighthouse.  I’ve only managed this moonrise symmetry one other time in the past 9 years of capturing landscapes in Marblehead.
