For the past few weeks, I’ve been on the hunt for examples of great foliage in town. Everytime I drove down Pleasant Street, I would look up at Marblehead High School and note the status of the trees there. On October 27th, the day before Hurricane Sandy was due to arrive, I decided to make a quick stop in the afternoon. I figured this would be my last chance to shoot the trees there for the season and thought the timing might just work out.
As I drove around the rotary and parked, I was thrilled to see the oranges and reds on display. I walked around and shot the entrance to the high school from a number of vantage points but this was my favorite. The strong lines of the high school lead in toward the blue-green entrance. The windows reflect the light of sunset on the second floor. The oranges in the circle are at peak and the red tree in the corner brings out some of the school’s colors to the scene. I’m sure this scene will just keep getting better as the trees grow.
In the meantime, make sure you head over the Marblehead High tonight to root on the Magicians vs Danvers…
