The Carnival is Coming! I have to say that this is one of my favorite Marblehead traditions…the Senior Carnival at Devereux Beach. Not only is it a great subject to photograph but it’s amazing to bring my kids to now and know that they’ll return here for years to come.
In the past few years, the carnival has brought along very interesting weather and none more so than 2012 when dense fog descended. While that may have been bad for business, I couldn’t be happier for the chance to shoot the carnival grounds in the fog. When I arrived, the scene looked even better than I imagined and I quickly went to work finding various compositions. I happened upon this tree and knew that I had a nice element to work with.
Growing up, one of my favorite books was Ray Bradbury’s Something Wicked This Way Comes and I tried for something that might have come from that book with this image. Couldn’t help but ‘borrow’ the title for the post. Hope you like it and make sure you visit the carnival this weekend.
Below (on the website) you can see other images of the carnival that I’ve shared previously.
