I spent all of last week sharing images of a great dawn over Marblehead Harbor during which the fog gradually thickened as the sun rose. Once the sun rose high enough in the sky, I sought out compositions to take advantage of the great diffused red light that bathed the harbor and boats. This was one such scene.
I was reasonable happy with the composition at first but felt it was missing something. Then, as if drawn by an artist’s eye, this lone seagull swooped in to just about the perfect spot in the frame. For such an ugly bird, it sure can add a touch of beauty to the right scene.
