On Wednesday, February 25th, I met up with a photographer from Maine whose work I greatly admire and showed him around the Town of Marblehead.  The sky was a boring (but welcome) bright blue and the tide was low so I decided to walk across Little Harbor to Brown’s Island.  We captured a few photos of the pancake ice that lined Brown’s Island and then trudged through the deep virgin snow to this vantage point.

I decided to compose this image to include both Marblehead Light as well as Children’s Island.  The sun was high overhead and I caught the glittering light reflecting off the ocean.  I didn’t realize it at the time but snow flakes were drifting in the air and I was pleasantly surprised to see them when I started to work on this image.  The conditions gave this image the feeling of a bright day ahead at Brown’s Island.

I plan to share another image from this outing on Wednesday.
