St. Michael’s new steeple has been in place for less than a year and yet it looks right at home when looked at up close and as part of the skyline.

I was out running errands on Wednesday morning and walked along Washington Street and by St. Michael’s church when I looked to my right and noted a tree in full bloom.  I walked closer to check angles and compositions and was pretty sure this would ‘work’.  After picking up some framed prints that had been at the Chamber of Commerce (and will be up at West Marine on Saturday for the annual Art Walk), I returned with camera gear in tow.  I set up this vertical shot placing the tree between the sign for St. Michael’s church and the steeple poking out between the trees.  It really does look like it’s been there for hundreds of years and has always belonged atop the building.

If you are free on Saturday, please come down to West Marine from 9-11am or 4-5pm.  I’ll have a variety of prints samples, some matted prints at discounted prices and my Wednesdays in Marblehead book available for purchase.  Only 50 books remain in stock (a second printing is due in 2-3 weeks) so if you need one for a graduation present or Father’s Day gift, now is the perfect time to pick one up.
