On May 12, I was out chasing clouds and ended up following them out to Castle Rock.  I arrived just before 7:00pm and found this incredible late day light bathing the huge rock formation in a golden glow.  You can see the cloud formation I had been chasing serving as a beautiful backdrop for the display of hard rock under soft light.  I only had a few moments to capture this scene before the light faded but was very happy with the results.

As it turned out, I was at the Marblehead Arts Association dropping off copies of my Wednesdays in Marblehead book in the gift shop when I decided to explore the Mark Shasha exhibit.  I had missed the opening reception and had the gallery all to myself.  Mark had some incredible pieces on display but I stopped in my tracks when I saw his version of Castle Rock bathed in a very similar late day light.  In his version, there are flowering bushes and two people taking in the sunset but I was struck by the similar compositions.  If you haven’t seen Mark’s pieces yet, make sure you head down to the Marblehead Arts Association soon.
