On the same day that I captured yesterday’s image of the last light on a harbor filled with boats, I had gone out to explore a few other areas in town with a birds eye view. When I checked the tides after leaving the house and saw that we were close to the low tide mark, I decided to drive the short distance to Surf Street and fly over Preston Beach.
Preston is easily my favorite Marblehead beach. At low tide, it has the smoothest sand and it is a 10 minute walk from our house. As I parked the car, I noted the angle of the sun and hoped I would be able to capture some long shadows if the beach was full. As luck would have it, the beach had plenty of sunbathers and I flew just offshore and angled the camera to focus on the shadows and the gentle waves coming to shore.
Amazing ?
Cool pic
Abstract art!
Interesting perspective!
This was my favorite beach! We were there 9 to 4 five days a week all summer. Back then, it was managed by the CIA (Clifton Improvement Association, I believe); it had a long haired, blond, skinny lifeguard; and I remember throwing all of our stuff up on the wall at high tide. My mother piled 2 adults and 5 kids into an old VW bug every week day that didn’t have lighting or a hurricane and we’d be at the beach. I have SO many memories of those days that are triggered by the smells of baby oil and Bain du Soleil or the sound of an ice cream truck. ?
Yup. When growing up tge parking sticker for CIA was $5. Not bad
Still managed by the CIA and still visited by an ice cream truck. It’s a great beach.
Michael Raphael pretty sure it’s $50 now for the season
Still a bargain especially for Marblehead
Preston was a short bike ride from my house. Loved this beach. I remember being stuck in a rock cave (around the corner from the big rocks) when the tide came in. But still loved it
Love that beach! also rode my bicycle there every summer day i could growing up nearby. Remember the ice cream truck, too!
Beautiful!
Lots of amazing memories here! Thank you for sharing- miss it!
No sign of Governor Christie?
That would have been sweet
Would like to walk there next time I’m in Marblehead
Fantastic shot
