On Sunday, I finally found some foliage around town and will share five favorite images from two outings this week. Today’s image of a flash of color at Abbot hall quite literally snuck up on me as I was driving along Washington Street out of historic downtown on my way home and spotted red foliage on this tree backlit by the 11:00am sun. I quickly turned and pulled over to try to capture this beautiful scene.
I decided to use my circular polarizer on my widest lens and started off shooting from directly under the tree but found the composition to be less than ideal. I then moved further and further away from Abbot Hall until I found this perfect spot across the street from where the backlit red leaves really popped in the late morning light.
Stay tuned for more scenes from Marblehead on this late October Sunday.
Stunning! Interesting perspective.
Thanks Judy
Another masterpiece! You have a very unique perspective of the places we see everyday. SO wonderful!
Thank you very much Lyn
Great Shot.
Come see the beautiful colors @ Oliver’s pond
I just walked to Ware pond for the first time. Is there a path to Olivers pond?
Not sure……maybe off May St
Meant to check out Oliver’s but ran out of time on Sunday. Can’t due to work today/tomorrow and Wednesday supposed to pour. Wonder if there will be any leaves left after that…
I can let you know…..message me if you like
So beautiful!
Have the leaves barely started to change, or are most of the trees nearly bare?
Bit of both Kathy. It’s been an unusually warm Fall and very dry to boot.
We’ll hold on to some for me. I’ll be there next week
My kids and I are coming to Marblehead for vaca on Saturday… I’m hoping the leaves are still there and colorful!
Prediction is for rain and strong winds Wednesday which may take a toll on any foliage

That’s how we all got home for dinner!
I just drove by today and noticed how beautiful the red maples were. Now, here they are! Perfect timing.
Eyal, your photos continue to amaze me?
