With relatively warm conditions and a very reasonable time for this morning’s moonset, I couldn’t pass up the chance to try capturing this month’s setting blue moon.  I had scouted a prime spot to be along Corinthian Lane and ran into another photographer there who had a similar idea. We set up and watches as the blue moon promptly disappeared behind the only clouds in the sky.

As we watched, the bottom of the cloud lifted and I held out hope that the moon might show before disappearing behind Abbot Hall.  Sure enough at 6:40am, the first hint of the blue moon appeared and I was able to capture its full face as morning light bathed Abbot Hall, Crocker Park, the BYC and a few working boats in a warm glow.

In the end, I really liked the addition of the cloud bank for adding some light and interest to the sky above this setting blue moon.
