What a night! I went out initially at 4:15pm after a storm passed south of Marblehead and came away with only one favorite. When I spotted another storm on the radar, I hesitated and debated if it was worth heading out once more and am very glad I did.
I started off at Riverhead and along the causeway where I found a very dramatic and dark sky over Marblehead Harbor. I shot toward the harbor, across the causeway and towards Tinkers before the rain caught up with me and I had to hunker in the car. A quick check of the radar led me to Fort Beach next where I managed several more interesting shots before more rain came. From there, it was back across the causeway and to Castle Rock once I spotted a rainbow in the pink sky. I ended up at the Pleon next and, from start to finish, managed to capture 270 images between 6 and 7:45pm.
I couldn’t decide which of my first 8 keepers to share first but, having posted a shot from Castle Rock yesterday, this one seemed to offer some nice continuity. When I arrived at Castle Rock last night, there were only two other people there to appreciate this incredible view of a towering rainbow rising over the ocean. I shot as a horizontal (landscape) first and then switched to vertical (portrait) but thought this early image worked best for the clarity of the rainbow and the white surf in the beach below. The granite contours of the location are instantly familiar but the rainbow rising in a pink sky seemed to make for a very unique image.
