In late April, I had gone out to shoot an oncoming storm and was surprised by the incredible golden light that bathed Marblehead Neck for a few minutes before being swallowed by clouds. That golden light was made even more beautiful against the deep blues of the storm clouds. Without any boats in this part of the harbor, the water served to reflect the color of the sky and was only interrupted by the scattered buoys in the empty harbor.
I’m reminded every so often that what has helped keep my Wednesdays in Marblehead project going is as much as the beautiful town I can call home as the incredibly varied light conditions that utterly transform these familiar scenes.
