This was one of the last images captured on July 5th from Chandler Hovey Park as a foggy sunset lit up the gathered fog in color and light.  I had been shooting a tighter view of this as the Town class boats passed by these much larger sailboats moored in the harbor.  Once they passed, I widened my composition to include the full height of the boats and the incredible light being cast by the setting sun diffused by the fog in our harbor.

I can’t count the number of times I have gone out in the evening as fog rolled in hoping to catch a foggy sunset only to find that the fog had thickened too much to let the sun’s light through or lifted just as the magic hour approached.  On this evening, every element came into place perfectly to created this memorable view.
