As I waited for the moon to rise on Saturday night, I was treated to an unexpected sunset over inner Marblehead harbor. I had only checked weather and cloud forecasts as far as the moonrise was concerned and hadn’t expected anything as beautiful as this sunset which spanned the inner harbor and causeway. I’m not sure if ‘inner Marblehead harbor’ is the right term for this area but was at a loss if a better nautical term existed.
There were just enough boats moored in the harbor to add a needed element that broke up the water while also showing that this scene took place in the Fall. I expect that these boats are all waiting for the coming warmup to set sail one last time for the season before being pulled ahead of the eventual cold.
This is one in a series of panoramas I have been working on. This particular image was composed of 17 vertical shots at a focal length of 115mm and would easily print at 12 feet wide…anyone have a wall to decorate?
