With the storm now passed and all images processed, I find myself with nineteen images to share with you. I struggled with which to start with and then decided to display photos as the storm unfolded. So here we go with Day 1.
On March 6th, the storm was still offshore but the wind had started. I decided to head out with my son to Castle Rock at high tide to see if we could spot any big waves. As soon as we walked down toward the big rock, we saw the sea spray sail over the stone wall and across the grassy area. We ran across between waves and took cover behind the big rock. I tried to time the shots so that I could capture a crashing wave but still duck back before the sea spray got my camera and lens. I was unsuccessful for the most part until this series.
Rather than zooming in to catch the wave and houses beyond, I decided to include the stone wall and set of steps leading down toward the beach. This serves as a leading line bringing the viewer’s eye into the scene and toward the houses, the ocean and the crashing waves beyond. I got lucky with some interesting light in the sky this night and tried to bring out as much detail as I could.
