Back to the morning of January 4th and the awesome experience of capturing sea smoke rising off the Atlantic Ocean from Devereux Beach. I had captured the sunrise over Tinker’s Island at this point but the increasing angle of sunlight was backlighting the sea smoke and making for an even more impressive display.
I tried to time the shots to the waves coming to shore and loved this particular image for the lobster trap encircled by water and the sea gulls that can be seen flying through the sea smoke.
As incredible cold as it was that morning, it was well worth it to come away with some unique images of this stretch of beach and ocean.
Eyal, Thank you so much for all your photos. I really look forward to Wednesdays when I see your posting. I especially love it when I see Marblehead from an angle that I haven’t seen before or hadn’t remembered in many years. Coming back into the Harbor is really beautiful and it’s been many years since I’ve done that. Also, the shot from the Lee Mansion cupola of Bank Square really tickled me. One of my first memories was sitting in my stroller in front of the bakery (Now Mahri’s – I have a great fondness for jewelry.) eating raw hamburger while my mother was inside buying our weekly scone dough. I had probably just turned two. Oh well, if she had gone to the bakery first, I’d probably have been eating the scone dough while she was purchasing the hamburger. I guess we were lucky to have had either since it was 1943 and things we not readily available so she undoubtedly wasn’t happy that I’d eaten the meat which she had to buy with rationing coupons! Thanks again for the memories!
