My best friend from college came to visit this weekend and on Sunday we decided to head out with my kids to Crocker Park. I hadn’t photographed my kids in weeks so I grabbed the camera thinking I would get a few nice shots of them outside. We couldn’t ask for better conditions as the sun kept breaking through the clouds and warming us up. The kids climbed the rocks and I tried to capture their enthusiasm. It wasn’t long though before I noticed that frostbite sailing (or ‘frostbiting’) was taking place in the harbor.
With the harbor still fairly devoid of boats, the scene of these sailboats going through their maneuvers was a great sight to behold. I grabbed a few shots of them in the distance but then had a better idea as they approached. I scrambled onto the rocks overlooking Crocker Park and took this image incorporating the trees in the foreground. I loved the subtle reflections in the water and the great light setting off the sails.
Not much longer before the harbor starts to fill with boats, the days get longer and warmer and the trees blossom with flowers.
