On Saturday, August 3rd, I woke at 4:45am for no good reason.  My first instinct was to grab the iPhone and figure out cloud cover, sunrise time and location before even considering going back to bed.  The conditions seemed decent so I quickly changed and headed out of the house.  I made a pit stop at Dunkin Donuts as the sky started to brighten and then made a beeline for Crocker Park as the sky started to build with color.

I parked on Water Street and snuck some quick shots from the water before running to the top of the hill at Crocker Park.  At that point, the colors of dawn had reached their incredible peak and I chose this composition including the rocks of Crocker Park, the boats in the harbor and Marblehead lighthouse in the distance all lit up by the pinks, oranges, purples and blues coloring the sky above and waters below.  I shared a quick iPhone shot of this scene early Saturday morning but knew the iPhone wouldn’t do the scene any justice.

Here is the final carefully processed version that captures the feel of an incredible dawn seen from Crocker Park
