On Saturday, I decided to head out to catch the start of the Annual Eastern Yacht Club Halloween Race in Marblehead Harbor.  The conditions were perfect for racing with strong winds but that made for less than fun conditions standing across the harbor shooting the action.  I started off getting images of the colorful sailboats crossing in front of Old North Church and was hoping the race course would extend out toward Abbot Hall even though that section of the harbor seemed to be fairly full with boats (for this late in the season).

It turned out that the image I was hoping for would end up materializing as the boats took off at strong speed into the heart of Marblehead Harbor.  These three boats – Puritan, Valkyrie and Druid could not have been better spaced as they crossed in front of Abbot Hall and made for a picture perfect scene.

I had a theme in mind for the coming week so decided to share this image a bit early.  Racing continues today so head over to Marblehead Neck or Crocker Park and watch some of the action live – the Halloween Race is one of those incredibly unique events that makes Marblehead a great town.
