I mentioned on Monday’s post that I had gone out after work Friday (Valentine’s Day) in hopes of capturing the February snow moon. I arrived at Crocker Park in time to capture a great pink sunset over Marblehead harbor and a few other scenes of snow that I will share in the days to come.

Well after the sun had set and the moon had risen, I had yet to find it in the night sky. I checked and rechecked my apps meant to help track the moon’s path but it was nowhere to be seen. I got back in my car and drove to a few other locations but still had no luck. I finally made my way back to the Landing and changed lenses in the hopes of seeing the moon finally rise beyond the larger than expected cloud bank I realized was obstructing my view.

As luck would have it, I set up just in time and the moon did appear for all of 1 minute before disappearing again behind another dense cloud bank. Even when it did appear, it did so behind lighter clouds and I could just make out the round shape of the moon behind the glow it gave off. While the moon proved elusive on this night, it definitely lived up to its name with snow clearly evident on the distant shores of Marblehead Neck and Chandler Hovey Park.
