The unofficial start of the Summer season begins at dawn on Memorial Day as captured in this image taken at Crocker Park.  Yesterday I posted the first image from my Memorial Day dawn shoot at Crocker Park with a beautiful crescent moon hanging over Marblehead Light.  This was one of the last images I took on that morning.

The light kept building but an unfortunate cloud bank kept the sun from entering the scene as I kept trying out varying compositions.  At 5:10 am (40 minutes after the crescent moon image), the light finally heat its peak.

I sought to capture the view of Marblehead Harbor now filling with boats on this Memorial Day (the unofficial start of Summer).  I love the incredible diversity of boats seen in the harbor at this early part of the season and the light reflected nicely off the water to help guide the viewer’s eye to take in the full scene.

Now if only the warmth of this day could have stayed with us…
