Last night felt like the first of many great Summer nights to come.  The temperatures had soared during the day and I had noticed promising clouds as the kids’ bedtime approached.  After reading to my son, I took a look out the window and figured I would head out to try to capture an image of the sun setting.

I started off at Rockett Landing off Village street and was very happy with the way the light reflected off the clouds overhead and the waters of Salem harbor.  That image needs another day or so of work so I opted to share this one that I capture shortly afterwards looking out over Fort beach in the blue hour.

When I arrived at Fort Sewall, there were still some lingering colors in the night sky and I quickly ran up the hill to capture those clouds and soft colors over Gerry Island.  On my return, I noted the beauty of Fort beach in the blue hour and composed this image from the road overlooking the scene.  As I was adjusting settings to compensate for the dwindling light, a car began driving up Front Street and I captured this frame in which the headlights reflected off the waters of Fort beach.  There’s something about the contrast of orange glow against the blue water and sky that worked really well and seemed to complete the scene.
