Once in a while, a snow storm departs just as the sun begins to set leading to perfect conditions and incredible light.  Such was the case on this day one year ago – February 10, 2015 – when one of the countless storms departed as the sun began to set.

I was at Crocker Park shooting a favorite composition of Abbot Hall when I turned and saw the golden light spread over Marblehead Neck.  I quickly changed position and composed this image including the barren branches of a tree to help frame the final scene.

I haven’t had a chance to go out and shoot our recent snow falls but, after taking pictures of Marblehead for over 8 years, it’s nice to bring out images from the archive – especially ones taken on the same day (but different year) they are shared.
