As I stood at Chandler Hovey Park capturing endless compositions of foggy scenes, I couldn’t help but marvel at the power of fog to transform familiar scenes.  I’ve shot this composition of Abbot Hall and a harbor filled with boats countless times but with the scene now layered in fog, it became new and exciting.

As the fog was rolling into the harbor, it kept thickening then thinning out.  At one point, it had thinned out in layers which added incredible depth to this view of boats and Abbot Hall surrounded by houses.  The warm glow of sunset filtered through the water-filled air only added to the feeling of shooting these old scenes in new light.

At this point, it almost felt as if I was shooting the rolling hills in Tuscany or the Palouse given the light and fog.
